Over 7-8 days, you’ll traverse forests, moorlands, alpine deserts, and the majestic glaciers of Kilimanjaro, finishing with a sunrise summit of Uhuru Peak (5,895 meters).

Full Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival – Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) to Hotel

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport, you’ll be greeted by your Alvin African Safaris representative and transferred to your hotel. In the evening, meet your guide for a detailed trek briefing, gear check, and Q&A session.

Day 2: Londorosi Gate (2,100m) to Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,750m)

After breakfast, transfer to Londorosi Gate for permits, then head to the Lemosho start point. Trek through lush rainforest, watching for blue monkeys, colobus monkeys, and vibrant birdlife, before reaching Mti Mkubwa Camp.

Day 3: Mti Mkubwa to Shira I & Shira II Camps (3,850m)

Start your summit push just before midnight, reaching Uhuru Peak for sunrise—a once-in-a-lifetime moment. After celebrating, descend back to Barafu for rest, then continue down to Mweka Camp.

  • Hiking Distance: 5 km up, 12 km down

  • Time: 7-8 hours ascent, 4-6 hours descent
